Christina Woo/Chapter 2 Part5 A1 Draft 2/Wed 1-2

My Definition Of Love

"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love." It is a famous scripture from the Christian bible. The definition of love has infinite explanations and meanings, but really, what is the true answer to this? I have cut it down into three words. Care, share, and dare. These three words represent my own perspective toward love.

My first definition of love is to care. Caring for others as if the problem and situation is your own. It is to be in the other person's shoes. It is not to think less of yourself, but to think more of the person you love first. Caring is making an effort instead of making excuses. I believe that when someone truly cares for you, your feelings would unconsciously be connected, even without having to say or hear it. Caring takes effort, and even the tiniest creatures on earth need to be cared for in order to live. A couple with care will never face a sad ending.

My second definition of love is to share. It is said that happiness is only real when it is shared with another, and what use is it by trying hard to reach your goals and dreams if there is no person to share it with? The more we have, the more we want, so in such a time as this where people are becoming selfish and striving for more, why don't we start sharing with a genuine and sincere heart? From sharing properties to complex emotion, sharing makes a relationship stronger. There is no point of being with someone if you are not going to give or take anything from each other. You sometimes take more and sometimes give more, but that is how love works, how sharing works.

My last definition of love is to dare. A daring love is like an infinite source of energy which never burns out. Two people's energy and effort gives a magnificent power in the society. Two people are together not to make things easier, but so that they could be stronger enough to overcome obstacles. So don't just expect a lovey-dovey relationship. Instead, by embracing each other make yourselves motivated and give power to each other. In fact, love should be daring and challenging enough in order to grow together. Love  is not a stop sign. It is a sign that will tell you the way to further destination.

In conclusion, love cannot be fully explained in words. There is no right answer for what love is. However, as for me, caring, sharing, and daring is an important factor of love which is the most difficult task; something we learn eternally. It is never ending difficult process, but that is why people have each other to hold through the learning process.

3 questions about the topic

  1. How can love be fully explained? Can it?

  2. Challenge is an important factor. Do most people take the challenge and dare positively?

  3. How do you know if someone is "the one" for you? As in life partner?
