Minyong Han/Chapter1 Part 5/Wed 1-2

My life goal is to be 'happy.' I want to feel happy and gratified on my deathbed. So, when I saw the writing topics, one on whom will have the happiest lives caught my eye. Whether one is happy or not is extremely relative, so there can't be a definite conclusion on my writing. However, I'm going to discuss who does look happy to me.
According to the author, the oldest tends to be calm and perform well in many areas. The middle child thinks to be capable of things that normally his younger siblings can't do, which means that he is confident enough. And from time to time he turns to older siblings for help when not qualified, which means that he doesn't push through to the extent that he worsens things like stiff-necked people can. The youngest has an inclination to be very dependent on older siblings or parents and pout his way out of challenges, leading to comparative incompetence.
I think that being happy is linked to being self-dependent and competitive. I'm not saying this just because I'm the oldest and think I can do many things better than my younger sibling. I'm saying this because I can't possibly picture myself living off of social security or other people's money. Concisely saying, I don't like getting help when I can handle it. I find myself better seeing that I have made some progress on my own and I find myself happier that I did it.
But, I think I can be better off with help when it comes to something uncontrollable. I don't hesitate to get help when I need it. How can I be happy when I get the worst result from obstinacy? I should get adjusted to what I'm facing and find happiness in there. I guess what I'm saying is that flexbility is the key to happiness. And as stated by the author, middle children show flexibility. So, in conclusion, I think the ways of living of middle children will lead to having the happiest life.

  1. Hello I'm Aya from your wednesday morning class.
Most of what you said is very interesting, I learned some vocabulary and I absolutely love how you defind the key to happiness by flexibility. That is true in so many ways. I wish you had developped a little bit more on how you link middle children to flexibility, i had a bit of difficulty to follow while reading. but Organizing is my main problem too so...
Overall, it was very unexpected (in a good way) and interesting to read. The vocabulary you used was also very good and I've learned a lot. Thank you for sharing!
