Sangwon Park / Chapter1 Part5 B2 / Wed 1~2

I think the oldest child would have the easiest lives. Because many scientific results, including Forer's article, said that the oldest children are very capable than their siblings. (Maybe there are some exception, but science is based on lots of theory that are supported by majority. That means any theory could have a opposite results that is supported by minority. I think following the major theory is more reasonable than minor one.) And owing to their capability, the oldest children can easily solve the problem then their siblings when they face some trouble after childhood. Meanwhile, Forer describe that their capability comes from their help for their siblings. That means, the oldest are generally used to helping someone else. And when the oldest grow, they would become a person who knows the pleasure of altruistic behaviors.

However, I'm not sure about their happiness. In modern society, selfish people sometimes exploit altruistic people. We often see that altruists are in enormous danger. In those circumstances, the oldest are sometimes confronted with some ironic situations. When they do the altruistic behavior, they could be in danger. On the contrary, when they don't do that, then they feel a sense of loss. Whatever they choose, they will be unhappy. I don't claim that the oldest child will live a unhappy life forever. When the society are changed and encourage people to do altruistic behavior, then the oldest child would feel happiness without worrying about risk. In other words, the oldest child's happiness are depend upon their circumstances.

To sum up, the competence that comes from helping other people makes the oldest child easy to solve the problems during their life. But, In the course of solving problems they often have to choose and do unpleasant thing, since they live in modern society where selfishness is rampant.
