Solutions to Working Mothers

In the past, women were limited to participate in the society. Nevertheless as time passed and many women started to enter the society, there have been changes in people's prejudices that women should only be housewives. And this became the background of many working mothers nowadays. However despite the high rates of working mothers, conflicts arise between work and family due to lack of social systems. So to help working mothers to work continuously, our society needs social welfare facilities and policies like child care facilities in companies and guarantees in parental leave.

Firstly, child care facilities in companies are needed for working mothers to maintain their careers. These days, most of the parents are working parents. Therefore, it is natural for children to go to day care centers since they cannot stay home alone. However the problem is that since the capacity of public kindergartens are too small, parents have no choice but to send children to private kindergartens which are too expensive. And for the parents who feel that the burden of expenses is too big, working mothers get to quit their job. But if a social policy is made to establish child care facilities in all companies, working mothers do not have to quit nor feel the burden of expense. Also, they can spend more time with their children while lunch time and break times.

Secondly, maternity leave should be guaranteed in companies. Usually when people request for parental leave, many companies refuse or may arbitrary discharge the employee because the efficiency of the company may decrease as it is a paid holyday. So many of the parents cannot use parental leaves nor send their children to facilities since they are just born or too young which leads to working mothers resigning. However when the parental leave is established by law and even increased in term, working parents can raise and take time with their children to a certain age and then slowly come back to their work. They no longer have to worry about being kicked out of their companies for using parental leave.

Policies like forcing companies to build children care facilities and to acknowledge parental care can help working mothers to continue their career. However the most important thing is to change thought's about mothers taking full care of children. Since many people have the prejudice of only mothers being responsible of housework and children care the conflicts appear frequently to mothers. Therefore, we have to change and even take action in reality of that fathers also can care about house works and parents take both same responsibilities. By this, working mothers can ease the burden.
