Shared Writing B-2

In my perspectives, I agree more in the Aesop's fable for two reasons. Firstly, Aesop's fable is more instructive. People usually write and read stories and their messages to get motivation. However, Maugham's story doesn't give people an educational message. While Aesop's fable provides a lesson of people who work hard earns a good future, Maugham's story is about a person achieving all of the things he wants without even any no effort. And this message doesn't have any motivation to people to live diligently. But it rather gives a feeling of loss to the people like George who have lived hard and faithfully by showing that eventually Bob gets to live more rich and happier without making an effort. Secondly, Bob's case is only an extraordinary case. In reality, usually people who make effort through their lives get to be successful. But in this story as Bob gets to live more happily, it may give a vain hope to people they can become like Bob. Also it may be an excuse to justify being lazy.

  1. Hi! This is Hyunseo. As I agree with the opposite fable so your story was really interesting. I especially like the main point of your essay. As it was well organized, it was easy to catch your opinions. But I think it would be better if you write more information and specific details. So thank you for sharing your wonderful stories!!
